Introducing the Raven Lunatic Cause
This first post explains the vision behind The Raven Lunatic Chronicles
Dear Friends, family, soon-to-be fellow Raven Lunatics, and fellow wanderers:
Let me tell you about a special flock of birds I call my own: The Ravens. We’re a 60+ old-timer hockey team, proving every week that age is just a number—albeit one that occasionally needs an ice pack and a good nap after the game. As playing manager, I can tell you firsthand that we don’t just play hockey; we embody hockey, and charitable causes. We’re a living testament to determination, camaraderie, and a collective refusal to act our age.
But here’s the thing about being a Raven: it takes more than grit to keep us flying—it takes funds. Ice time isn’t cheap, gear wears out, and the post-game beverages don’t buy themselves. But that’s not the reason I’m inviting you to join the Raven Lunatic cause.
This isn’t just about our Raven hockey. It’s about building a community of like-minded ‘lunatics’ who believe in staying active, supporting each other, and having a good laugh along the way. And it is about giving back to causes we like.
As this little cause grows, so will its wings. We will help other groups besides the ones we help now—teams, clubs, or even individuals—who share the Raven Lunatic spirit and could use a boost. We already are a part of a larger league group giving to our local Food Bank and KidSport, including cash and collecting used sports equipment for kids and even Olympic sledge hockey equipment. We are very proud of the huge generosity of our players and we feel young enough, yet old enough to have the time and energy to expand and invite YOU into helping with these causes too. We’d like to kick start this while we are still young enough to learn new skills like substack and since we are always recruiting new players- The Raven Lunatics will never grow old! Come and evolve with us here.
Many sports clubs have their charities such as Kids Autism networks and Play it Again Sports, which we currently support, and which we will continue, as we seek to expand our help to bolster more of these kinds of worthwhile causes!
Here at the Raven Lunatic Chronicles, we are not only about hockey-related causes. We have over dozen areas of interest you will read about in the next post! And we have unlimited open minds on what charities we will support from proceeds from here in substack and from the sales of our signature high quality “Raven Lunatic” Baseball Cap.
So, if you believe in helping, like to read fun things (more on our content coming today)—and the support things we do —Join the flock. We Raven Lunatics are not just a bunch of old-timers chasing a puck and a dream—Consider this substack yours. Of course it costs nothing to join the free subscription. Try it! Enjoy! To you who read, our delight in sharing stories would not be the same without your participation. Thank you!
We will have our famous “Raven Lunatic” hats for sale soon. New ones are in the design stage. Whether it’s buying a hat, a donation, a kind word, or just sharing this Substack with others, you’re helping keep the spirit of Raven Lunatics alive and well.
Join for the laughter, the stories, & the connection, The Raven Lunatic Chronicles is about celebrating life’s quirks and challenges. Together with my wife Lynne, six adult kids, and six grandkids, I’ve seen a lot of life and we all have plenty of tales to tell! Subscribe for free to join the movement—and let’s share a little lunacy and joy along the way.
Thank you for being part of our flock. Now, let’s go make some rational noise.
Your Raven Lunatic
Timmy

“Life’s too short to take too seriously—embrace the lunacy and make it count!“
Good Sunday eve, and Happy New Year!
I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing holiday season. I’ve started a Substack to share some insights, and I’d love for you to check it out.
If you received an invite, great! If not, here it is. This first post is classic me—the next one's self-explanatory, and the others will offer a bit more concise.
I appreciate your support, and I hope to see you join us "lunatics" on Substack. It's ad-free (except for our famous Raven Lunatic hats), free of confusing algorithms, and features fun topics that we all enjoy as hockey enthusiasts.
Life’s too short to take seriously—let’s embrace the lunacy!
